HTC 11
The HTC 11 is expected to arrive on April of next year.  Twitter

HTC used to be one of the forerunners when it comes to introducing quality flagship Android-powered smartphones. However, they have failed to keep up with the Joneses in recent memory, and their HTC 10, while it was a pretty decent flagship smartphone, did not manage to create the kind of spark that is associated with different kinds of flagships from other manufacturers. Just how will the HTC 11 fare then, should it actually hit the market?

One thing is for sure though -- the HTC 11 will not make its debut at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, as the annual show kicks off in a few days’ time. However, this does not mean that there are no rumors swirling around this particular flagship smartphone, so without much further ado, here are some of the latest rumors that surround the HTC 11 on the digital grapevine.

HTC 11 specifications
What will the HTC 11 come with underneath the hood? Well, it seems that there has been no flagship handsets that were released, running on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and neither does that seem to be the case at MWC 2017. Chances are, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 launch that is happening this April will be the first marker, and then the HTC 11 will only be revealed to the world. Of course, HTC might just settle for the lesser Snapdragon 821 chipset that LG will do with their LG G6, but that would automatically translate to a lack of bragging rights straight from the starting line.

Apart from that, there might be 4GB or 6GB of RAM underneath the hood, accompanied by up to 256GB of internal memory for the highest capacity variant. The back camera will most probably be a 12MP shooter, with an accompanying 8MP selfie camera in front. All of those are also tipped to be accompanied by a 5.5-inch display at 1440 x 2560 resolution, alongside a more generous 3,700mAh battery in addition to a brand new Sense Touch feature.

Chialin Chang, who happens to be HTC’s president of smartphones and connected devices, mentioned, "When we will look back, it will be clear why HTC introduced [the U Ultra]. We want to have a couple of months of leadership before the next flagship CPU comes. But that will be in another period of time - not at MWC. Not for us or any other player. I can tell you that for sure.”

Will it be known as the HTC 11?
Right now, we are simply using the moniker HTC 11 simply because it continues to jive with the general direction of the handset’s naming convention. Perhaps HTC might take a different approach with its name, who knows? We will only be able to find out for sure when the device is actually out in the market. A new naming convention might also do HTC some good as it can be considered as a rebranding effort.

What are some of the possible names that the HTC 11 will be called? We would not rule out the HTC U or HTC U Vive, and the HTC U family which was unveiled earlier this year is now part of the company’s premiere smartphone range. How about the codename HTC Ocean that was shared last month? Only time will be able to tell.

HTC 11 price
If this is going to be a flagship smartphone, then expect a corresponding high price to be attached to it. Assuming all goes well, the HTC 11 should cost anywhere in the region of £549 to £599, which would be more than $700 a pop after conversion.
