After being leaked last month, details about the unannounced HTC Desire 728 handset has surfaced online once again. This time, several amateur photos of the device have been spotted.  The smartphone is said to be part of HTC's mid-level Desire series. Based on the specs from previous leaks and its form seen on these new images, it seems the Desire 728 will live up to its intended mid-range status.

Rumored photos of HTC Desire 728

We previously learned a handful of details about the Taiwan-based device maker's mysterious HTC Desire 728 model when it passed by TENAA, a Chinese telecommunications regulator. The handset was listed as "D728t" but it is widely believed that the device was indeed the Desire 738.

Now, new images fresh from China have emerged giving us a glimpse of the phone reportedly still under wraps within HTC's lab. A web site called Anzhuo posted several photos which it claims to be that of the HTC Desire 728. The images are remarkably detailed and has high resolution so there will no problem inspecting its form up close. Check out the alleged Desire 728 images here.

HTC Desire 728 specs to expect

Upon gazing at the photos, it looks like the HTC Desire 728 is furnished with thinner top and bottom bezels, which is different from what we had seen on previous Desire models.According to the TENAA listing, the device packs a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen and will be powered by a MTK6753 chipset from MediaTek. That system-on-chip is embedded with an octa-core CPU running at 1.3GHz and partnered with 2GB RAM.

In the photography department, the HTC Desire 728 will reportedly come adequately equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front snapper.  When it comes to connectivity, network support is not spelled out clearly but the model will come shipped with LTE support along with GSM and TD-SCMA.

The Desire 728 will likely be a dual-SIM smartphone judging from the photos; a microSD card slot is also evident suggesting an expandable memory. It has the following dimensions 157.9 × 77.8 × 7.87 mm and will weigh about 150 grams. The mid-ranger will reportedly run the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box but will be layered with HTC's own Sense 7 user interface.

Phone Arena pointed out that the HTC Desire 728 may only be released in China. But that is not always the case since HTC has been known to release international versions of previously region-specific handsets. As of now, details about the handset's pricing and release date are still far off the horizon given that the company hasn't made anything official yet. Nonetheless, the recent appearance of HTC Desire 728 on TENAA indicates its impending arrival.
