HTC One 'Aero' A9 Release Date and Specs: HTC Shares Official Teaser Image of 'HTC Aero' Flagship Smartphone Set for September 6

The rumored HTC Aero device may finally make an appearance on September 6. HTC has just shared an official image for a device widely believed to be called Aero or HTC One A9.

Based on the teaser image (pictured above) shared by the company's Weibo account on Tuesday, the unnamed device will be unveiled during a launch event set for Sunday, September 6. The image does not reveal much but it clearly portrays the outline of a new handset. The model is also described in Chinese as "MengYao" which roughly translates to "superior handsomeness."

The current HTC One M9 flagship is only unveiled in March. After the handset's less than impressive performance, the device maker has been vocal in releasing another "hero" device before 2015 ends. Aside from the HTC Aero, the company is also speculated to launch a model tentatively known as HTC O2, previously believed to be called HTC One M10.

As HTC is still mum about the model's specifications, earlier reports suggest that the upcoming HTC One A9 might come with a Quad HD or 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 4 and 2.5D curved edges. It is said to be powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 chipset partnered with a Mali-T880 MP4 graphics processor and a generous 4GB of RAM.

An improved rear camera with support for RAW photography will be fitted along with a metal body design with curved glass at the back.

Though the latest teaser is intended for the Chinese market, the HTC Aero or One A9 is also apparently set to launch in the U.S. with support from AT&T.

To further fuel the rumors, a new video of what appears to be an unknown HTC smartphone has surface online. The clip is said to be taken in an HTC testing facility and shows the handset's front profile sporting a speaker grill with an unprecedented design.

The short clip, which can be seen below, is drawing the HTC One A9/Aero conclusions because of the location of its camera. The device's upper right placement of the rear camera resembles a previously leaked image of the One A9.

It remains to be seen if this is indeed the HTC One A9 or HTC Aero. Whatever HTC ends up calling its new smartphone, the full story will be told soon as September 6 is just a few days away.
