One of the most underrated games this year is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Initially released as PC title, Hyper Light Drifter is coming to gaming consoles on July 26. This indie action RPG game earned praises from many gaming critics. Now, Xbox One and PS4 owners will finally experience its thrilling gameplay.

Here's what is currently known about Hyper Light Drifter review, gameplay and release date for PS4 and Xbox One.

Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action game inspired by classic 16-bit adventure games. It is an overhead-view RPG game in which players explore a mysterious region in search of a cure for the main character's disease. As players traverse the colorful world of Hyper Light Drifter, they will come across powerful creatures and puzzles that have to be solved. Players can upgrade their weapons and abilities to defeat bosses. Also, the game's storyline depends on the player's decisions.

Hyper Light Drifter was initially announced as Kickstarter project. With just a modest $27,000 goal, the project earned more than $645,000 from backers. The success of fundraising campaign enabled creators to develop console ports and special physical editions.

Aside from the upcoming Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, Hyper Light Drifter is expected to have Wii U and PlayStation Vita ports. However, developer Heart Machine recently said they are having problems porting the game to PS Vita. The developers cited the "limited processing power and memory" of the handheld console.

Heart Machine estimated Hyper Light Drifter's PS Vita version would become available this fall, while updates about the game's Wii U release will be announced next month.

A review from IGN says the setting of Hyper Light Drifter is beautiful and haunting.  With wordless storytelling, the game has an intriguing atmosphere.  Also, the unique combination of static tunes and upbeat sounds perfectly set the stage for a colorful sci-fi world.

Gamespot gave Hyper Light Drifter a score of 9/10 and described it as "superb" indie title.

Hyper Light Drifter Collector's Edition is now available for pre-order on iam8bit. This edition includes a digital copy of the game, a replica Super NES cartridge, game's world map poster and a 24-page manual. Digital Trends reported the physical editions of the game would be released in "late summer."
