As Apple unveils the iPhone 6, Mac fans are beginning to wonder whether the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will actually see the light of day.

Fortunately, there have been recent release date rumors for the iPad Mini 3 - the fabled successor to the iPad Mini 2. For clarification, the iPad Mini 2 is officially called the iPad Mini with Retina Display.

In contrast, there is no word from the rumor mill regarding the iPad Air 2 launch date. As such, it is not likely consumers will be seeing the device within this year. Still, recent reports hint that the iPad Air 2 may still be under development.

iPad Mini 3

Recently, the Daily Dot alleged that Apple will hold an unveiling event for two new devices on Oct. 21 of this year. According to the publication, those devices include the iPad Mini 3 and iPad 6. Curiously, this development is happening in the same month as the rumored OSX Yosemite launch.

Given its secretive nature, Apple has yet to confirm the existence of the iPad Mini 3 let alone an exact release date. In fact, the name 'iPad Mini 3' was something fans used to describe the fabled device. Even so, there is the possibility that Apple may use a different name for the iPad Mini 3 just as they did for the iPad Mini 2.

iPad Air 2

Bloomberg recently reported that Apple is set to release an iPad model that is available in gold color to address declining iPad sales. Apparently, the tablet will be unveiled later this month. The name of the device is still unknown.

However, MacRumors speculated that the device mentioned in the Bloomberg report is the iPad Air 2. Apart from this development, there is no further information concerning the mysterious tablet. The iPad Air 2 is expected to replace the original iPad Air.
