iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5 were not present at Apple's March 21 event. However, rumors still suggest that the two Apple products will still be released this year. The upcoming iPad Air and iPad Mini are said to feature thinner design. Here's what is currently known about iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 5 release date, specs, and rumors.

Let's start with iPad Mini 5's design. Several tech websites reported that it will have slimmer body. According to Macworld, iPad Mini 5 could also come with a new chassis. It will be a 7000-series aluminum similar to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The new body will make the upcoming iPad Mini more durable, particularly if it is really thinner. iPad Mini 5 is also expected to have a new smaller battery.

Reports also suggest that the 3D Touch pressure-sensitive screen technology is not yet confirmed for iPad Mini 5. However, we can still look forward for this feature in the iPad series.

iPad Mini 5 is also expected to arrive with the latest A9 processor, and an 8MP rear camera and 1.2MP front-facing for FaceTime.

The next iPad Mini will likely cost at $399 for a 16GB model. iPad Mini 5 is anticipated to be released in September 2016, or in fall this year.

On the other hand, iPad Air 3's design will also be thinner. TechAdvisor predicted that it will have color options. The colors are Gold, Silver, and Space, with the likely addition of Rose Gold.

Furthermore, the previous rumors about iPad Air 3 ended to be the new iPad Pro. These are A9X chip, Apple Pencil support, four-speaker audio system and more. Therefore, the possible iPad Air 3 specs will back to square one. The only certain for its specs is the 9.7-inch screen with a 2048x1536 resolution. True Tone screen is still not confirmed if iPad Air 3 will have this feature.

Also, internal improvements are more likely to come such as a new processor. A10 is one of the expected processors that iPad Air 3 will contain.

The upcoming iPad Air 3 will be priced at $399 for a 16GB model. It is the Apple's standard price for a full-sized iPad. Although it is still not confirmed, iPad Air 3 is expected to be released in September 2016.

Take note that Apple has not yet confirmed or denied any of these details so let's take it with a grain of salt.
