iPod Touch 6th Generation Release Date: September Launch In Question

iPod Touch 6

A new round of iPod Touch 6th Generation release date rumors are making the rounds on the internet. But, are they true?

The most current rumor by Master Herald suggests that the iPod Touch 6th Generation may be released with other Apple flagships in September of this year. Other rumors support an October launch. Even so, predictions from the rumor mill have been inaccurate so far.

For instance, initial gossip pointed to a 2014 release date - two years after the iPod Touch 5th Generation began hitting stores. The speculation came to naught and Apple fanboys have been left in the dark since.

One reason for the lack of iPod Touch 6th Generation sightings have been explained by the larger successes of Apple's newest iPhone and iPad devices. Another reason reported by Itechwhiz suggests that the iPhone Touch 6th Generation may have been delayed by the iWatch launch. The same tech site also cited changing tastes within the targeted teen market as a factor in Apple's decision to push back the iPhone Touch 6th Generation release date.

On the other hand, Venture Capital Post has also pointed out that the iPod Touch 6th Gen is low on Apple's priority. That is due to the presence of other Apple flagships such as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus - both of which as due for an important update. Also, the Macbook Air with Retina Display and iPad Pro will soon make a splash as well.

Even more telling is the lack of official information regarding the iPod Touch 6th Gen. Earlier in February, Apple CEO Tim Cook failed to make any mention of the fabled device at the first 2015 quarterly financial call.

This has not stopped the Apple fanbase from speculating on the specs and prices of the iPod Touch 6th Gen. Prices range from $250 to $300 on a variety of sites. It has also been speculated that the device will come in 32 GB and 64 GB versions. The iPhone Touch 6th Gen may come in space gray, orange, green, pink, red, or silver. Other rumors state that the device will be waterproofed and sport a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. It is not clear if the iPod Touch 6th Gen will have a camera.

Still, a number of gossip sites have suggested that it will sport an 8-megapixel camera. Naturally, all information regarding the iPod Touch 6th Generation is unconfirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.
