Kate Middleton Second Baby's Gender Bets: Will Prince William Name the Baby Girl Diana or Alice?

Kate Middleton has taken maternity leave as of March 27, and the potential due date for the Duchess of Cambridge's baby is set for April 25th.  As the watches to see whether or not George will have a brother or sister, there are many bets being made for Kate and William's second child that might result in a large payout.

In case you didn't know, the birth of this royal baby has a lot of gambling surrounding it.  I'm not certain if this is a tradition when it comes to the birth of a new royal in the United Kingdom, but what is going on at Ladbrokes could easily be considered a British version of a sequel to March Madness.

Ladbrokes has odds for baby names, the actual date of birth, and even the color of the dress that Kate will be wearing when she shows off her new child, and even more.  Like last time, there will probably be teams of press and paparazzi camped out at the Lindo Wing, ready to report on and snap pictures of the new baby.

According to the best odds, the royal baby will be:

  • A girl
  • Called Alice
  • Born in the morning
  • Tomorrow (24/4/2015)
  • Weighing  8lb
  • With brown hair
  • Kate will hold the baby in the 1st photo
  • Kate will be wearing a pink dress in the 1st photo
  • And David Cameron is going to be the first leader to tweet his congratulations to the royal couple

So far, there has been 20,000 bets being placed on the royal baby being a girl.  Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "We're bracing ourselves for an almighty pay-out, but living in hope that history repeats itself and there's a little boy on the way."  In fact, one better from Essex placed a huge £2000 wager on the baby being Princess Alice.

If you are looking to place your own bets (assuming this type of betting is legal), we have previously reported that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby girl, but Prince William and Kate Middleton have no idea what the sex of the baby is, according to E! News.  Another source form OK magazine seems to show that Kate and William absolutely know what the gender of the baby is, and it will be a girl.

A palace insider even admits that Kate and William found out during the 21-week scan.  This source stated that the baby could be named Diana, but only because they "felt they needed to go with something very traditional, like Elizabeth or Mary, or something that had a lot of meaning to them." Of course, the name of Diana is Prince William's late mother's name.  According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Queen Elizabeth does not want to allow that name.  After all, Prince Charles divorced Diana after the affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles, which caused a lot of bad press for the royal family in the nineties. Just to let you know, Ladbrokes currently has Diana at 14/1 odds while Elizabeth is 6/1 and Mary is 25/1.

It is pretty obvious that we will know everything about baby after this weekend, and all rumors seem to point to a baby girl.  However, something might surprise all the gamblers out there.
