Creationist Ken Ham has warned that God will judge America - just like He judged Sodom and Gomorrah - should the country continue to celebrate sin and defy His commands.
Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum, shared his thoughts in response a recent Fox News article detailing how tens of thousands of LGBT rights supporters marched across the U.S. on Sunday to express anger over threats they say claim are posed by President Donald Trump.
"It's really a march by religious zealots celebrating sin and rebellion against God and His Word," Ham wrote in a Facebook post. "It was a march to impose their views on others and show their intolerance of those who disagree with them."
Ham said that the chasm between God's Word and man's word continues to "widen" in our nation.
"Really, it's a celebration of sin and defying God. God is long suffering and he's a God of grace, but he also judged Sodom and Gomorrah," he warned.
LGBT activists who participated in the march reportedly took issue with the fact that Trump has appointed "foes of LGBT rights" to his cabinet - including Vice President Mike Pence, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. They also criticized the White House's decision to rollback of federal guidance advising school districts to let transgender students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that corresponds to their gender identities.
Sarah Kate Ellis, the president of GLADD, slammed President Trump for declining to issue a proclamation in honor of Pride Month, abandoning a tradition established by former President Obama.
"If you look at their prioritization, we're really low on it," she said. "There absolutely is a resistance aspect to this march."
The protests aren't ending anytime soon; an activist group seeking to have homosexuality and transgenderism "removed from the sin list" has also recently announced plans to "politely disrupt" the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting June 13-14 in Phoenix.
Faith in America (FIA) hopes to persuade the nation's largest Protestant denomination to change its interpretation of Scripture, FIA said in a press release accusing the SBC of marginalizing and harming lesbian, gay, homosexual and transgender (LGBT) children in particular by discouraging sexual sin.
In a separate Facebook post, Ham warned that removing homosexuality and transgenderism 'from the sin list' means rejecting the Bible.
"I agree with the Southern Baptist Convention; love those who disagree but we don't change God's Word to fit the LGBT lifestyle," he wrote. "Culture changes, but God's Word doesn't. God created male and female and God created marriage. Homosexual behavior is sin."
In a February interview with The Gospel Herald, Ham warned that such attacks on Christian values aren't likely to stop anytime soon.
"We've seen an increasing attack on Christianity," he said. "We've seen the increasing secularization of our western world. It's not just an increasing rejection of Christianity, it's an increasing intolerance of Christianity. Ultimately, it's it's really a battle between religions. If you go to Genesis 3, God said, 'Don't eat of the fruit of the tree,' but the devil said, 'You can become like God.' That really started a battle, and it's the same battle we have today. It's a battle between God's word and man's word."
