Bobbi Kristina Brown Health Update: Brown Family Claims She Is ‘Awake’ & Off Life Support; Houston Family Disputes Claims

Bobbi Kristina Brown
Bobbi Kristina Brown is the only daughter of the famed Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown.

Relatives of Bobbi Kristina Brown have claimed that she is now "awake" from her comatose position. The Houston family has disputed that claim.

According to Maria Puente of USA Today, her father, Bobby Brown, made the claims during a Saturday night concert in Texas. He has largely stayed by her bedside after she slipped into a coma from an accident back in January at her home in Georgia.

"Bobbi is awake," 46-year-old Brown said. "She's watching me."

However, another Brown family source told Maria Mercedes Lara of People that she hasn't woken up yet.

"As far as I know, there's been no change," the source said. "We're still hoping and praying that God will perform a miracle. We are leaving it in God's hands."

Puente reported that Tina Brown, the sister of Bobby, declared on her Facebook page that her 22-year-old niece "woke up" and is "going to be OK." However, Puente noted that her post has since been deleted.

"So many messages, sorry [I] can't answer them all right now, but I will get to them later," Tina wrote. "Just allow me this time with my family. Yes, she woke up and is no longer on life support! God is good!"

Tina also thanked supporters for their prayers, adding that Bobbi Kristina's recovery is "still a process, but she is going to be OK."

According to Puente, Tina's friend, Keliah Fell, also showed the post on Facebook, urging for more prayers.

"Please don't stop praying for Bobbi Kris even though she is off life support and she has [waked] up," Fell wrote. "We are decreeing life in her body and healing and we want to pray that God restore her body and everywhere that she hurts, and we want God to mend her broken heart and make her whole all over again."

However, sources from the Houston family told TMZ that they dispute the claims made by the Brown family surrounding the condition of Bobbi Kristina. They wondered where the Brown family received the information that the daughter of the late Whitney Houston has been taken off of life support.

"She's in the exact same condition she was in when she went into the facility," a Houston family source said.

The Houston family indicated to TMZ that there has been "minimal" reaction, which mostly centered on an occasional eye blink from Bobbi Kristina. They added that she was still on a ventilator.

According to USA Today, Bobbi Kristina has remained comatose since she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home on Jan. 31. She has been moved to a rehabilitation facility last month after spending weeks at an Atlanta hospital.

"Bobbi was placed in a medically induced coma when she was first hospitalized," Lara wrote. "Attempts to lift the coma resulted in violent seizures."
