Lenovo is one terrific company that makes a lot of great products, and they recently unveiled two that could eventually change tech as we know it.  The first is the PHAB2, and this is the first Project Tango phone, which will really make the phone known where it is.  The second is a smartphone and a tablet with a flexible screen, without a hinge.

If you aren't familiar with Project Tango, it is technology that combines both hardware and software in order to give handsets and tablets a visual and spatial awareness which they don't have now, according to Ubergizmo.  The Lenovo PHAB2 will be the first commercial handset to use this technology, which can "understand the world of its immediate surroundings at 250,000 data samples per second.  This comes in handy for checking out augmented and virtual reality.

The PHAB2 is a large display phone, with a thicker chassis with a full-metal body with stripes for the antenna on the top and bottom.  This comes in handy when you walk around with it, and works for great motion-based games.  It would be great to play Pokémon Z on this!  By the way, there is also some kind of camera app which allows the PHAB2 to measure the size of things, and that will come in handy a lot.  Of course, Project Tango is pretty new, so it might not have these features out of the box.

As for the specs, it has a 6.4-inch display (2560 x 1440 resolution with 454 pixels-per-inch) and great resolution.  There is a main processor (SoC) is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM.  The camera is a 16 Megapixel job out front that is good for 4K videos, and 8 Megapixel camera in the front.  The main camera also has a dual LED tone flash, but won't have an optical image stabilization technology.  As for the battery, it has 4050 mAh, and will cost $499.

In other Lenovo news, there was a big keynote in San Francisco where CTO Peter Hortensius introduced a new bendable screen that can snap around the wrist.  According to Engadget, it works like a slap bracelet, and this flexible screen could change everything.

What is strange and kind of surreal is that there was a plant in the audience with the flexible bracelet phone.  This person was was Meghan McCarthy, a writer and producer of the popular cartoon for young girls and some older men with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.  Not only did she bend this phone around her wrist, but she got a folding tablet and bent it in half, with a cat photo on the screen.

So that is a PHAB 2 phone that should be released soon, but there is no release date for the flexible products.
