Let Justice Roll Campaign to Culminate Oct. 31

By Pauline J. Chang

The National Council of Churches announced that the fifteen-city, five-month “Let Justice Roll: Faith and Community Voices Against Poverty” campaign will culminate on Oct. 31 in Miami, Fla., just several days before the Presidential Election.

The “Let Justice Roll” campaign, which is coordinated by the NCC and the Center for Community Change, is centered on the theme, “Ending poverty must be a priority in the 2004 election.”

The keynote speaker for the “grand finale” is the Rev. Dr. James A Forbes, Jr., Senior Minister of The Riverside Church in New York and one of the nation’s top preachers.

In addition to Forbes’ message, the Oct. 31 event will feature a worship service and celebration for the more than 100,000 new voters who were registered through the campaign to date.

Preaching will begin at 7pm at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in 1892 NW 51st Terrace, Miami.

According to the NCC, “Both George W. Bush and John F. Kerry have been invited to the Miami event, and a large crowd of people of faith, public officials, community leaders and the general public is anticipated.”
