LG Electronics has started teasing an upcoming smartphone model via its social media accounts. The device, which is believed to be called "LG Class," will be unveiled by the South Korean device maker on Monday, September 21.

The company already hinted that it will have a press event for October 1 in New York. It now looks like LG has another launch event in store that is coming even sooner.

The supposed teaser photo for the LG Class, which is pictured above, has been shared by LG Korea on Facebook and first spotted by French tech site NoWhereElse.fr. It shows a device with a metallic build, straight-edged profile, and design elements that are different from the company's recent LG G3 and LG G4. The tagline accompanying it reads "Something New."

LG's teaser image also indicates that the model with have the device maker's signature buttons-in-back setup. There is also a relatively big camera module and what appears to be a single rear-facing speaker grill.

This unannounced model is reported to be the same LG handset recently spotted on GfxBench. The device, with model number H740, sports a 5.7-inch display and mid-level specifications.  

It appears that the LG Class' metal-clad body is its main selling point as its specs list mostly suggests that it will just be a mid-ranger in terms of hardware. Based on the benchmark result, it will pack a 5.7-inch Full HD display and a Snapdragon 615 chipset from Qualcomm supported by 2GB of RAM. The processor is clocked at 1.5GHz and will come with accelerometer, compass, and pedometer sensors.

A 12-megapixel primary camera is present with full-HD video recording support along with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. 8GB of storage is built in and it will be run by the current Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS version. The abovementioned rear-mounted power and volume are arranged vertically and also houses the LED flash. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS.

If those specs turn out to be accurate, the LG Class will definitely not be of the same caliber as Apple's new iPhone 6s Plus or Samsung's Galaxy Note 5. However, it should be capable enough to compete against other mid-rangers in the market such as Motorola's Moto G models and Samsung's Galaxy Alpha range.

Aside from the imminent September 21 event, LG is also said to hold another event on October 1 where it is rumored to launch a dual-screen LG V10 handset.
