More than 85,000 people were drawn to the Spanish capital Madrid this weekend. While in US, people crowded to Billy Graham's last crusade, world famous evangelist Luis Palau held FestiMadrid in Europe at the same time in what is considered the largest revival in the history of the nation, according to Luis Palau Evangelistic Association (LPEA).

From June 24th to 25th, the two day evangelistic event was supported by churches and volunteers throughout Spain called "Amigos del Festival." While Spain is predominantly Catholic with few evangelicals, and threatened by increasing secularism, Palau was well received by that national media and populous.

Luis Palau has been known for his evangelic festivals since 1999 and has then shared his message with close to 20 million people in 70 countries worldwide. He is the author of books published in dozens of languages and his voice was broadcasted over 2100 radios in 48 nations, according LPEA.

Luis Palau on his visit to Spain, he commented during a press conference, "This part of the world needs so much to hear a message of hope, not of religion, Jesus did not come to make us religious, but to bring us God’s love."

“[it] may be the spiritual doorway to bringing the message of God’s love back to Western Europe.”

Top musicians from Latin America and Europe performed on stage including Jose Luis Rodriguez, Mexican actress and singer Yuri, Asiria, and Spanish singer Ricio Jurado. Some took the liberty in sharing their faith while during performance.

According to LPEA, Palau will return to United States for two festivals in Oregon and Washington D.C., and afterwards will travel internationally including to China.
