If rumors are to be believed, the Macbook Air with Retina Display may soon see the light of day at WWDC 2014, less than two weeks away. Meanwhile, an Apple press release may have confirmed the launch date of the iOS 8 mobile software that will replace the current iOS 7.

This week, Apple released the WWDC 2.0 app on a download page that has a screenshot of the schedule at the upcoming conference. Of interest is the Platforms State of the Union at 2:00pm, which is when Apple will likely be introducing its newest devices for 2014. The latest rumor from 9to5mac suggests that the Macbook Air with Retina Display will be making its first public appearance at this time, though this remains to be seen. Like many tech giants, Apple has always been characteristically tight-lipped about any internal-information prior to launch.

Late last year, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the Macbook Air with HD Retina Display was due for release in 2014. Kuo has an excellent track record of fairly-accurate predictions for upcoming Apple products. Still, there is the possibility that the Macbook Air with Retina Display may be held back until next year, mainly because Apple has already released a 2014 update for the Macbook Air.

The actual specs of the Macbook Air with Retina Display remain unconfirmed, but it is generally believed that it will sport a 2304x1440 resolution display. In regards to software, the upcoming device may come with the next-gen iOS 8 software. So far, Apple has not release information about the pricing, but it may cost a premium. It is best to keep in mind that Apple products tend have a higher asking price in comparison to that of Android-related mobile devices.

Apple may also be introducing the iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 this year. According to GottaBeMobile, both software is likely to appear at the morning keynote session on the first day of WWDC.

Though there is not much information so far, it is speculated that the iOS 8 software is going to receive a major facelift similar to what we have seen in the iOS 7. One heavily rumored iOS 8 function that may be introduced is the Healthbook app, which allows users to organize fitness and health information.

The OS X 10.10 will be the next-generation Mac operating system, and is expected to share a physical appearance similar to the iOS 7. Rumors indicate that the OS X 10.10 will keep many of Apple's operation features. So, changes are going to center around the aesthetic.

WWDC 2014 will kick off at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA on June 2. Apple has long used the event to showcase its latest software and hardware prior to launch.
