Marvel’s Netflix series have been extremely successful, and to follow a tried and tested formula, if it ain’t broke, why fix it? We did hear that Marvel will ensure that Freeform, a Disney-owned US cable channel, will receive an adaptation of the famous duo, Cloak & Dagger. The challenge lies in the casting though. We are glad to bring you word that the two main characters have been discovered, and they are none other than Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph who will play the role of Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, respectively. These two teenages in the comics come from very different backgrounds, where they bond with one another on a whole new level while coming to terms with the superpowers that they have developed.

Tandy is able to throw light daggers (hence her name, Dagger), while Tyrone will do the opposite by engulfing people in darkness. I would pretty much prefer to be Tyrone since he is nothing but a dark chasm and can take more than just a hail of bullets without being scratched. Since opposites attract, these two also begin to have feelings for one another. Anyone who is in a relationship would know that it is not always a bed of roses, and that there are certain days when the relationship becomes complicated. The Cloak & Dagger show will have its focus on their coming-of-age story, where Tandy is depicted on overcoming a family tragedy while the introverted Tyrone who prefers to be alone most of the time has to figure out how he is going to open up -- literally and figuratively, after Tandy comes into his life.

Showrunner Joe Pokaski shared, “The characters of Tandy and Tyrone have always stood out to me ever since I first met them in the pages of Marvel comics when I was a boy. When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leapt off the page. We’re so excited to see what these talented young actors bring to the Marvel Universe.” No idea on when Cloak & Dagger will hit US screens, but it should arrive some time later in 2017.

As for the Netflix series, The Defenders, a new set of photos have just been revealed, and it looks like The Defenders is set for a pretty comfortable debut. The Defenders will be an Avengers on a tight budget, as different heroes with their own Marvel Netflix series, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist (which will be revealed in 2017, too) come together. Bear in mind that Iron Fist will need to debut first before The Defenders is released, as that is the logical progression of the situation. Right now, The Defenders is being filmed, but no one has managed to obtain any of the plot details.

Chances are we will see a love story develop between Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock in The Defenders, while the Luke Cage and Claire Temple relationship will also have a say in how the series will turn out. Will Jessica Jones and old flame Luke Cage confront one another as well? There are still 11 more months to go for 2017, so we will find out sooner or later!
