Marvel’s the Defenders Release Date and Plan For Daredevil Season 2, Jessica Jones Season 2, Luke Cage and Iron Fist

Last weekend was big for fans of Marvel and Netflix's shared Cinematic Universe, as the first season of Jessica Jones debuted, and was devoured.  The good ratings of the story of the darker superhero lady private eye will lead to a Season 2, and this has given more light on the plan for The Defenders.  For those that aren't aware, Marvel plans to do four solo series that include Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist and then put them all into one series known as The Defenders.  This is the plans for The Defenders Release Dates as well as Daredevil Season 2, Jessica Jones Season 2, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. 

Daredevil established this universe, showing the dark and gritty world of superheroes.  Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) was a superhero with hyper-senses that went up against a ruthless Kingpin named Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).  Jessica Jones took this world a step up as Krysten Ritter played a former superhero with superpowers who had to go up against a ruthless man with mind-control powers, Kilgrave (David Tennant).  In spite of the fantastic powers, these characters remain pretty well-grounded in reality. 

In fact, the next character was introduced into the series with Luke Cage (Mike Colter). It looks like Luke Cage's show will appear after Daredevil Season 2, but there is a lot for Cage to do.  Jessica Jones left Cage out of a job as his bar was destroyed, so he is going to spend a season probably rebuilding his life.  Jessica Jones introduced Claire Temple (aka the Night Nurse, played by Rosario Dawson), which is about the only thing connecting these would be Defenders together so far. 

Daredevil Season 2 is going to focus on introducing a lot of Marvel's intellectual property like The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), a vigilante who has no qualms about shooting criminals.  It will also introduce fan-favorite Elektra (Elodie Yung), another masked vigilante that becomes a love interest for Matt Murdock.  Surely he could run into Jessica Jones or Luke Cage along the way.  Considering that Murdock is a lawyer, he could encounter Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), a background lawyer character from Jessica Jones. 

One of the biggest question marks is Iron Fist, and there isn't a lot of information based on this character, who is based on Daniel Rand from the comics.  Luke Cage could introduce this character, and these two were partnered together often in the seventies and eighties as Power Man and Iron Fist. 

This is an interesting plan, and Marvel could even raise the stakes to make it even more epic.  According to Screen Rant, there could be a plan to release The Defenders series sometime in 2016, and this is deliberately timed to coincide with the release of the next Avengers film.  Does this mean that The Defenders will be appearing in the next Avengers film, due to be released in theaters on April 26, 2018? If so, then Marvel's Cinematic Universe is about to get as complicated as its comic book universe.
