Mexican Parishioners Celebrate Day of the Candle

Millions of Mexican Catholics celebrated Dia De La Candelaria – the Mexico day of the Candle or Light – by dressing figures of baby Jesus and bringing them to church to be blessed, Feb. 2, 2004. During the holiday, also known as the Day of Purification, parishioners nationwide celebrate with dance, food, music and other local festivities to mark the passing of winter.
