With an unspoken code of secrecy and the fiercely private way Michael Schumacher's family are guarding the progress of the fallen F1 race car hero, the general public and Formula One fans are eager to hear of every little news on Schumacher's recuperation.

However a few statements given by the F1 star's close friends may shed some light on Schumacher's current state. 

Autoweek reports that ex-Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo expressed his upset over the F1 champion's current state and labeled his condition as "terrible."

In an interview with German website RTL, Montezemolo said, "He is an extraordinary person, who even in the most difficult moments was an absolute team player. To see him in this situation is terrible. It's a situation in which you don't know what you should do. So I try to recall so many great moments in life that we celebrated together. I always think of an exceptional driver, man, friend."

Montezemolo also did not miss out on an opportunity to praise Schumacher's family: "I must also say that I admire the courage and strength of his family, of Corinna and the children, and how they help Michael. From the bottom of my heart, I hope to hear good news soon."

According to another report from Autosport, current FIA president Jean Todt gave a much more hopeful statement on the seven-time Formula 1 world champion.

"I see Michael very often, and Michael is still fighting, and we must keep fighting with the family," he said.

At present, it is almost a full two years since Schumacher made the fateful leap that critically injured him during a skiing holiday in the French Alps. His doctors put Schumacher in an induced coma following his severe injuries.

Despite having regained his consciousness and having moved to his own private medical suite in his own home in Lausanne only last September, things are still not looking up for the race car driver. His wife Corinna, who is in charge of his estate, has been forced to sell off Schumacher's assets to pay off the cost of his physical rehabilitation, including a holiday home and a private jet.

Currently, British-born Lewis Hamilton is getting a lot of press for being seen is the potential talent who could reach the same heights Michael Schumacher once did.

Schumacher's son Mick is also receiving a lot of positive feedback ever since he started his career in karting in 2008. So far, he has already made waves in the German ADAC Formula 4 this year.
