Microsoft's Lumia 640 release date price was dubiously leaked through official channels, while the Lumia 435 remains top contender in the economic devices category. So far, only T-Mobile and AT&T have confirmed plans to launch the new Lumia 640.

Recently, the Microsoft Store listed the Lumia 640 as have a starting price of $89 with the T-Mobile service plan. It is important to note that all devices sold on T-Mobile are unlocked. The price information was quickly spotted by Windows Central, which published a screenshot of the leak on Thursday, April 23. It is not clear if this will be the price for the Lumia 640 upon its release later this year.  Since then, Microsoft has removed the price tag from the Lumia 640 page.

At this time, there is no confirmation from either T-Mobile or AT&T regarding the confirmed release date for the Lumia 640. The upcoming device is expected to compete with a variety of top devices including the Samsung Galaxy S6, Motorola Moto X, Apple iPhone 6, and HTC One M9.

Even so, Microsoft's latest offering have neither high-end specs nor expensive price tag. Based on the starting price of its predecessors, the Lumia 640 may sell at around $200. That is why the device is still one of the more budget-friendly, powerful smartphones available.

Naturally, the price is reflected in the phone's modest 5-inch display with 720p resolution. The Lumia 640 is powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB of RAM. Its rear camera is only capable of 8-megapixel, and has no flash. There is 8 GB of internal storage, and the option to store up to 128 GB via microSD card.

Those willing to spend more can opt for the Lumia 640 XL instead. Though the device still uses the Snapdragon 400 processor, it enjoys higher specs. For instance, the Lumia 640 XL sports a 5.7-inch HD screen. Its rear 13 mega-pixel camera comes with autofocus, which is lacking in the Lumia 640. However, the expected starting price for a Lumia 640 XL is well over $200.

Is the Lumia 435 Worth Having?

Targeted at casual consumers, the Lumia 435 is considered an entry-level device that is packed with respectable hardware. Bear in mind, the device is not well-suited for heavier app and social media uses. However, the Lumia 435 is more than capable of providing music and basic web functions. There are also a variety of options via the device's Microsoft Office apps.

Starting at $99.99, the Lumia 435 comes with a 4-inch screen with 800x480 display. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM. Just like its Lumia 640 cousin, the Lumia 435 packs 8GB of internal memory. The device also has a microSD slot for storing more information. Its rear camera is only 2 megapixel.

Currently, the best places to purchase the unlocked version of the Lumia 435 include NewEgg and B&H Photo, which both sell the phone at about $95. The Lumia 435 unlocked is also available at Amazon, but for roughly $120.
