Microsoft's Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 release date is delayed once again. The Redmond-based tech company reportedly wants to put an improved Intel processor to Surface Pro 5. However, the said feature will not be available before the end of 2016, becoming the reason for the postponement. Now, here's what is currently known about Microsoft Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 release date, specs and rumors.

Fans expected that Surface Pro 5 will be launched along with Surface Book 2, but the release of two Microsoft devices might be pushed to the last quarter of 2016. According to a Neurogadget report, Microsoft will install an Intel Processor called Kaby Lake that will be released before the end of 2016. The tech company stated that they want to release a powerful hybrid laptop, and they want Surface Pro 5 to prove that. Meanwhile, there are also speculations that Surface Book 2 will also contain the Kaby Lake chip.

The Kaby Lake chip is expected to double the efficiency of two upcoming Microsoft products. According to The Bit Bag, the said chip will run Redstone 2, the next major update for Windows 10. Kaby Lake is a 14-nanometer processor from Intel.

For the specs of two Microsoft products, let's start with Surface Book 2. Aside from having the rumored Kaby Lake processor, it is expected that this 2-in-1 PC will have a Thunderbolt 3 support, USB 3.1 support, and performance-driven CPU and GPU cores. It will also have a brighter screen with a 13.5-inch display, supporting 3840 x 2160 resolution.  Moreover, Surface Book 2 will be expected to feature four cores as a default configuration.

As for its price, there are reports that it will be likely the same as the original price of the current Surface Book 2 which is $1499.

On the other hand, Surface Pro 5 will feature 4k display. It is said that its video quality will be better than its fellow Microsoft products. It will also contain a better battery. A surface pen is expected to be available for Surface Pro 5 to enrich user's experience. Microsoft stated that the pen will be a stylus that will provide an active functionality powered by a rechargeable battery.

As for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5's price, CNET reported that its i7 extreme version will cost $1599.
