Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 impending release date may be pushed back until late 2015, according to the latest speculation surrounding the device.

Based on the Surface Pro 3 being released last summer, some rumor sites pegged a Surface Pro 4 release date at around June or July 2015. However, this prediction is starting to look unlikely based on recent developments at Microsoft - one of which includes the impending Windows 10 launch in October.

"The Surface Pro 3 is selling just as well as it did when it first came out," said tech observer Paul Mueller, explained to The Inquisitr. The Los Angeles-based analyst also pointed out that Windows 10 is another factor for the delay.

"Even though people expected a June or July release for the Pro 4, it probably won't happen until Windows 10 is released," Mueller elaborated. "That way, Microsoft could capitalize on both Windows 10 and the new Surface Pro at the same time."

Provided this information is true, the Surface Pro 4 may not be ready until October 2015. It is not certain what specs the Surface Pro 4 will have upon release. Still, the device in question is expected to be packed with beefed-up hardware just like its Surface Pro 3 predecessor.

According to Venture Capital Post, the Surface Pro 4 may be powered by Intel processors. Users may get to choose between the Intel Core i5, and the more powerful Intel Core i7. The same source suggested that the device may get 16 GB of RAM and stylus. Also, the Surface Pro 4 may have two screen options - either 12-inch or 14-inch with 2K resolution. Naturally, the more powerful hardware and larger screen options will be more expensive.

Not surprising, this device is definitely not for the budget-minded and casual user. Instead, the Surface Pro 4 may be ultimately be more at home with working professionals. In fact, it is theoretically possible to trade in the Wacom tablet for the Surface Pro 3, which runs industry-grade software such as Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 and Illustrator.

Though the starting price has yet to be confirmed, the Surface Pro 4 is definitely going to cost more than other Microsoft tablets. The recently released Microsoft Surface 3 has a starting price of just $499. Later this year, owners will be able to update their Surface 3 to Windows 10 for free.

The Surface Pro 4 is expected to compete with Apple's fabled 12-inch iPad Pro, which also has a rumored ETA for 2015.
