Mighty No. 9 has been delayed again. The crowdfunded spiritual successor of the Mega Man series is supposed to be launched on Feb. 9, but the developers said there are "critical" issues in the game's online matchmaking. Because this is the third delay, some Kickstarter backers are disappointed in the game's development.

According to the game's producer Keiji Inafune, players should expect Mighty No. 9 to be launched in "Spring 2016."

Mighty No. 9 was originally planned to release in April 2015. However, it is delayed to Sept. 15, 2015. The developers said the first release date is postponed because they have to team up with other developers to bring the game to a wider audience and add some great features.

After that, the game is delayed again, for the second time, to Feb. 9. The development team said they encountered some issues regarding the game's distribution method.

In an update to the supporters, Inafune again cited the number of platforms as the cause for the indefinite delay. The producer said the delay was the result of miscalculations on the part of the development team. Consequently, gamers have to wait for more than six months to play Might no. 9.  "I want to take this chance to apologize personally, and on the behalf of the development staff," Mifune told GameSpot.

In the same article from GameSpot, Mifune said the development team has been working without break to release the game as soon as possible. Despite of the delays, the team is making process to resolve the last issues that have holding up to the launching.

However, some backers are not pleased. "When you have people making your startup company successful and putting that much faith and trust in you to front huge money-this is not how you thank them," user Nicotine told in PC Mag.

Funded on Kickstarter back in September 2013, Mighty No. 9generated $3,845,710 on the promise of releasing the game on April 2015. Repeatedly delays caused some backers to complain about the game's slow progress.

Mighty No. 9,  developed by Comcept and to be published by Deep Silver,  is expected to release on PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U on physical discs and digitally.

Furthermore, the game is also set to be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms. PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS editions are also in the lineup, but the release date for these platforms have not yet announced.
