While the Minecraft craze has surely died down compared to its early, heady days, this does not mean that there is no sizeable community left behind. In fact, there are still a number of Minecraft gamers who would surely love to keep the game going for years down the road, as well as see it appear on more platforms. The latest platform to be able to offer Minecraft on a screen? Apple TV. Yes, you read that correctly -- Minecraft Apple TV Edition is now out for tvOS, and it will be accompanied by a limited edition DLC (Downloadable Content) to boot.

Keeping to their word shared over in October earlier this year at Apple’s keynote, where it was cited that Minecraft would be making a tvOS debut down the road before 2016 comes to a close, it is nice to know that the week before Christmas saw that happening. Minecraft Apple TV Edition can be downloaded for $19.99 a pop.

The free limited edition DLC will be made available for a limited time only, where it will comprise of a trio of skin packs, another three texture packs, as well as the brand new 2016 Festive Mash-Up Pack to help you get started on the right footing -- and in time for the festive holiday season, too. In other words, you will be able to ensure that your worlds are brought to life in a way unlike ever before, thanks to the presence of the Festive, Plastic, Natural, & Cartoon Texture Packs, not to mention having the ability to pick from the Town Folk, City Folk, Festive 2016, and Holiday 2015 skins.

As for the latest free update which is known as The Ender Update, it will come with The End and its iconic ultimate boss battle, the Ender Dragon. Minecraft Apple TV Edition will need to have a MFi-based game controller in order for you to play, so do remember to get one if you have not done so already. The entire download will weigh in at a mere 237MB, which is a pittance in this day and age, and will arrive in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese languages. As long as you have tvOS 10.0 or later running on your Apple TV, you are definitely good to go.

At this particular point in time, Minecraft Apple TV Edition is unable to offer support for Realms or Xbox Live, although do not despair. There is very good evidence that such support are being worked on to be made available in updates down the road. This can only mean one thing, there is still hope for more Minecraft goodies down the road!

How about the availability of Minecraft on the likes of Roku and other TV stick providers? The future remains rather bleak in that particular department, although we do know that Roku does offer the Minecraft by HappyKids.tv channel. In this particular channel on Roku, it will deliver all things Minecraft: ranging from games videos to Minecraft inspired art, animation, toy reviews and other carefully curated material so that children who watch it can work on their creativity and thinking skills.
