Update 0.12 Minecraft: Pocket Edition may be nearing completion, according to a recent message from a Mojang developer. Meanwhile, Title Update 27 on Xbox 360 features themes from Greek mythology. The same thing is available on Xbox One via Content Update 15. On the PlayStation home console, the same update is known as Patch 1.18.

Finishing Touches Being Applied to Minecraft: Pocket Edition

This week, Tommaso Checchi tweeted that the next build for Minecraft: Pocket Edition is coming on Friday. The developer added that this may be the last one of its kind for the project. Hence, development for Update 0.12 is nearing completion.

Generally, each update goes through weeks of beta testing before being made available to the public. Update 0.12 brings bug fixes and tweaks. The full changelog for Update 0.12 can be found here.

New features include Nether portals and The Nether, Wither Skeletons, Nether fortresses, Hunger, Sprinting, Sneaking, Anvils for repairs, Flower Pots, Golem, Rain and Snow, Ocelots and Golems. Also, the AI for villagers have been revamped.

Greek Gods Featured in Console Update

In the meantime, Mojang has introduced Gods and Monsters from Greek mythology. There are a total of 39 new skins. This content was made available across several platforms. The update goes by different names depending on the console. The Xbox 360 version is called Title Update 27, while the Xbox One version is dubbed Content Update 15. PS4, PS3 and PS Vita's version is called Patch 1.18.

Many bug fixes have been implemented. Xbox One and 360 owners will be pleased to find that the game no longer crashes when they approach villagers. Also, players can now remove leads from fences, and Oak door recipe does not result in 3 doors.

PlayStation console and handheld owners will notice that mobs can now go through open iron doors. The patch also fixed a bug that did not allow players to spawn new babies for villagers killed in villages that have reached the spawn limit.

All New Story Mode Revealed

Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft is getting an all new story mode featuring protagonists and their pig. The merry band of heroes is led by Jesse, who is voiced by comedian Patton Oswalt.

Developed with collaborative efforts by Mojang and Telltale Games, the story mode will be available later this year. Telltale Games already has a history of creating popular games including The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Similar to previous Telltale works, Minecraft: Story Mode will employ more of a point-and-click style of gameplay.

According to Telltale's blog, the premise concerns Jesse and his buddies - who deeply admire the legendary Order of the Stone. The order consists of four brave adventurers who have slain an Ender Dragon. They consist of the Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer and Architect. While visiting EnderCon, Jesse and company find that terror has been loose upon their world. Shortly thereafter, the friends embark on a journey to locate the Order to defeat the new menace.
