Pahrump, NV – Ministries and churches are working together to reach out to local community in the city of Pahrump though “Bless-A-Block” event. The first “Bless-A-Block” will be held Jan 17, Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

“Bless-A-Block” is founded by Pastor David Bennett of Soul Savers Ministries five years ago from Maui, Hawaii.

"The events are intended to show the love of God while helping to meet the needs of people. We teach each chapter how to serve their community without expecting anything in return," Bennett said

The words about “Bless-A-Block” have spread to a group of his friends including Pastors Ken and Missy Burns of Victory Christian Center in Pahrump and finally the kick-off event is planning to be held on Saturday.

Soul Savers Ministries will be joining the first “Bless-A-Block” in Pahrump. Soul Savers will give away “100 pairs of shoes, toys, dolls, bicycles, clothing, food, and personal hygiene products among other items” – all brand new, to the entire community, Pahrump Valley Times reported.

The event is sponsored by various companies such as Wal-Mart, Smith's, Albertson's, Domino's, Subway, Krispy Kreme, KB Toys, Safeway, Frito Lay, Health Monitor, Aware Products, Payless Shoe Source, and IZOD. Local businesses are also sponsoring the event.

During the event, free hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate will also be served, plus entertainment, provided by local musicians from Victory Christian Center, Water from the Rock Christian Fellowship and the Salvation Army. There will be face painting and a bouncy house for the children as well.

Every Saturday following the kick-off “Bless-A-Block,” Pahrump ministries which include members of Victory Christian Center, Water from the Rock Christian Fellowship, Salvation Army and Hosanna Mission, will be responsible for knocking on doors of people through out Pahrump to fulfill the needs of the community, asking them if they need any help.

"We really feel that the message of Jesus is not just one of words but of actions. We feel privileged to share the message of Jesus in a relevant way," Ken Burns said. "Jesus cares for the whole person; he cares for our natural needs as well as our spiritual needs."

Members of the community who would like to get involved in the Bless-A-Block event can attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Victory Christian Center, located at Highway 160 and Winery Road.
