A Baptist American missionary who was wounded by an attack in Yemen is returning to Yemen to continue his mission with his partners.
Donald W. Caswell, 49, a phamacist told members of the Southern Baptist Convention during the annual meeting that he and his family hoped to return to their mission field by August 1.
"God wants us to respond to evi with love just like He did," he said.
When he was attacked, he got shot twice by an anonymous gunman at the mission hospital in Jibla, Yemen. Also three other American missionaries- William E. Koehn, Kathleen A. Gariety and Martha C. Meyers- were shot and killed.
Since then, a Yemeni court coped with the crime and sentenced a suspected Al Qaida terrorist, Abed Abdul Razak Kamel, to death.
Wendy Norvelle, spokeswoman of International Mission board, said the Jibla hospital is operating regularly, treating more than 40,000 patients every year. The hospital provides free medicine to the poor. She added that the hospital's property is owned by the Yemeni government and security is provided by Yemeni troops.
