Mortal Kombat X DLC Release Date Spoilers, Kombat Expansion Pack 2 Update (Xbox One, PS4)

By Richard Waelty

Rumors regarding Kombat Pack 2 have calmed down somewhat, despite Ed Boon's tweet earlier this month. Perhaps, the reason is because gamers are growing accustomed to Boon's cheeky teases that often lead to nowhere. Release date information for the so-called KP-2 remains elusive at the moment.

Mortal Kombat X is available on the PC as well as home platforms such as the Xbox One and PS4.

Four Characters for Kombat Pack 2

The co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise earlier posted a picture of four fighters in silhouette, along with the caption, "Who's Next?"

ScreenRant speculated that the four fighters could be Baraka, The Joker, Cyrax, Smoke, Sektor or Bo' Rai Cho. Naturally, this prediction falls within the realm of speculation.

In fact, Ed Boon told Polygon back in July that he will not be bringing any DC characters into the MKX.

"I'd be hard-pressed to have a DC character as a downloadable character in Mortal Kombat X," Boon explained. "The main reason is, I have no desire to cut Batman's head off. I have no desire to kill Superman."

That means The Joker will not likely be included as DLC in the near foreseeable future. Boon also added that he did not wanted clear separation between Mortal Kombat and the DC-themed game Injustice: Gods Amongst Us.

Other possible candidates for the upcoming DLC include unplayable characters such as Fujin, Rain and Sindel. Though they were included in the MKX story mode, players are still wishing for the option to play as them.

Boon's latest twitter posting hints that NeatherRealm is only considering four of the likely candidates. This means many characters will sadly be left out in the second Kombat Pack.

When it was released, the first Kombat Pack included horror icons Predator and Jason Voorhees. Classic characters including Tremor and Tanya were also introduced. Overall, the original Kombat Pack was well received by fans and critics alike. Hence, there is a lot of hype riding around the next DLC. Hopefully, NeatherRealm will come out with content that is equally exciting as the first.
