The new Mortal Kombat X Fighters.

Mortal Kombat was the ultimate fighting game before there was Ultimate Fighting, and the franchise, which is over two decades old, is about to get even bigger with Mortal Kombat XLMortal Kombat XL is a special version of the already best-selling Mortal Kombat X game, and it has some serious updates to make the fighting as exciting as it is gruesome.  This is what is known about Mortal Kombat XL Release Date, New Characters, and New Trailer for Xbox One and PS4, and what is included in this special extra large (XL) edition.

According to Engadget, NetherRealm Studios has revealed a version of Mortal Kombat X that is appropriately titled Mortal Kombat XL, as it includes the main game and all of the downloadable content that has been available since its launch which includes all of the skin packs and characters.  Mortal Kombat X already introduced the fighting game franchise to a new generation with its cinematic presentation and all new, deadlier than ever, fighting experience, and it is about to get bigger and bloodier.

For those that are wondering if it will come with the Kombat Pack 2 downloadable content (DLC), then the answer is yes.  This particular DLC is planned to launch on March 1st in the United States and March 4 in Europe.

According to Coming Soon, some of the content in Mortal Kombat XL, besides the Mortal Kombat X game itself, include:

  • The already mentioned Kombat Pack 2 that includes four new characters including Bo'Rai Cho (a character first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance), Leatherface (from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror movie franchise), Triborg (a new character that is a combination of cyborgs Sektor, Cyrax, and Smoke), and the Xenomorph Alien (from the Alien movie franchise).
  • Previously released content including a playable Goro.
  • The never released Apocalypse Pack, with three new characters skins for D'Vorah, Takeda, and Erron Black.
  • The Brazil Pack with three new character skins: Futbol Cage, Capoeira Liu Kang, and Gaucho Kung Lao.
  • The Kold War Pack with three new character skins: Motherland Sonya, Tundra Sub-Zero, and Revolution Kano.
  • Kold War Scorpion: The classic Mortal Kombat character with a Kold War skin.

Mortal Kombat XL will be available in North America beginning on March 1st for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.  Check out the video of the gameplay and new characters below, but be warned, it is quite bloody.  There was a reason why this game was frowned upon by conservative parents' groups back in the early nineties, and is probably the reason why we have the ESRB rating system.
