Moscow Sees Great Potential of Evangelism among Chinese

By Eunice Or

At the north of China, a vast piece of land- Russia – has become the new battle field for Chinese missions, opening the way to bring the gospel to Eastern Europe and even back to China.

The California-based mission-orientated theological education organization Global Life Enrichment Center has been sending short-term mission teams and providing theological education in Russia. The two targeted groups of Chinese people are the overseas students and the businessmen.

Student ministries in campus have been flourishing because most of them have come from Mainland China and have never heard of the Bible. For the student retreat that held in Moscow two times per year, there are around 300 people attending each time. With the support of short-term mission teams and pastors from North America and Taiwan, many dedicate their lives to God or experience spiritual renewal. Moreover, after each retreat, the Moscow Chinese Christian Church offers discipleship training to nurture future leaders.

According to GLEC, as most Chinese students will go back to China after graduation, they have high potential to become a great force for inland Chinese missions.

In Moscow, there are around 100,000 businessmen from China. Under stress from work, many of them are thirty for the word of God. Pastoral care for the second generation of these businessmen is also one of the ministries that are most concerned. Through these second generations, cross-cultural evangelism can be carried out as well in the diverse community of Eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, GLEC consistently sends short-term mission teams to preach the gospel and offer discipleship training. However, Moscow is in urgent need of a long-term full time missionary to minister the students and start a student center. In addition, there are around major 4-5 cities in Russia that needs to be pioneered.

GLEC urges to pray for long term missionary to Moscow for further support of this great harvest field. Also, theological education is to be strengthened for the native missionary to grow up and lead the missions.
