WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) - The mother of Virginia Tech shooter Seung-Hui Cho had for years sought help for her troubled son.
Reports say that the members and pastor at One Mind Church in Woodbridge were going to help get rid of what the pastor called a "demonic power."
But before the church could act, Cho returned to Blacksburg for his senior year at Virginia Tech. Months later he shot 32 people and himself in the worst shooting rampage by an individual in U.S. history.
The Rev. Dong Cheol Lee is the minister of the Presbyterian congregation. He says Cho's problem needed to be solved by spiritual power. He says Cho and his mother met with members of the congregation. They told his mother, Hyang In Cho, that her son needed deliverance from the demonic power that was afflicting him.
The pastor said the churchgoers were helping several people like Cho.
