Today's reports all agree that there would be two versions of Moto G this year. Dubbed as Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, these two devices will sport revamped design and brand-new features. Now, here's what is known about Motorola Moto G 2016 specs, price and rumors on the web.

The 2016 Moto G4 devices are reportedly changing names before the official release, considering the fact the LG has a smartphone named the G4. Also, it is possible that G4 is an internal code for the device because it is the fourth iteration of Moto G phone.

According to leaked pictures posted on Chinese website Sina Weibo, the upcoming G4 devices will sport a square fingerprint reader on the bottom bezel, ditching the bottom speaker. Industry experts say the fingerprint sensor may also function as a "home" button, just like on iPhone devices. At the back of the device, there's a dual LED flash and holes at the top of the camera lens. Based on the existing camera technology, these holes could be a laser auto-focus or color sensor.

Interestingly, the latest Moto G 2016 images line up with an earlier leak from HelloMotoHK, a site popular for Motorola product rumors.  

As for the other specs of the devices, Twitter user Roland Quandt gave some interesting details. He wrote the Moto G Plus model will have higher specs, but both variants will feature a 5.5-inch display. Moreover, the top-spec variant will boast a 16MP rear-facing camera while the standard Moto G will have a 13MP snapper.

The standard Moto G is estimated to cost around $270 while the Moto G Plus could be priced around $315. If true, the devices will be pricier than the current Moto G, which has $180 price tag.  It is also expected the handsets will have 16GB of storage, and will be available in black or white models.

According to Ars Technica, the upcoming Moto G phones will be the first Lenovo-managed devices.  Lenovo bought Motorola in January 2014 but didn't control the company until October 2014. With that 7-month gap, it is highly likely that Lenovo developed and planned its future devices.

Forbes reported Lenovo acquired Motorola for nearly $3 billion. The move also changed the brand of Motorola to"Moto," making it shorter and trendier moniker.

For now, Lenovo-Motorola has not yet revealed the official release date and other specs of Moto G 2016 (G4) devices, so stay tuned for more information.
