The Moto G5 Plus from Motorola is not going to generate as much news or buzz as a flagship device’s release would, say in the form of the iPhone 8 or the Samsung Galaxy S8. However, it must be noted that Motorola has come up with some pretty solid smartphones in the past, handsets that will surely cater to the working class person and perform well without running into any kind of issues or troubles. In fact, Motorola is also pretty up to date when it comes to rolling out the latest version of Android, Android 7.0 Nougat, to its current stable of smartphones. Well, our ears on the ground have heard plenty of about the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus in recent weeks, which would mean that it is not surprising to see both devices announced on February 26 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.

Lenovo is now the one manufacturing Motorola smartphones, and hence, it is not a shock to see that an image of the upcoming Moto G5 Plus has already leaked out on where else but Weibo. Weibo is China’s version of Twitter, and with China’s own population of more than a billion people and counting, they would have no issues whatsoever finding users in the country. The leaked Moto G5 Plus image showcases the handset’s rear panel which looks as though it is all metal. This drops yet another clue, that the Moto G5 Plus will arrive with a unibody design that will certainly enable the handset to keep up with the times in terms of its looks.

There are also other new leaked images floating around on Weibo, where it shows off the Moto G5 Plus with its display turned on. That will most probably be a test unit that was handed out right before the actual handset is launched, and I am pretty sure that there would have been some sort of agreement between the tester and Lenovo not to post up images of the device online before its official release. If that were to be the case, then it would seem as though whatever agreement there was beforehand was not heeded properly.

While a metal back is not really all that special, taking into consideration how many other smartphones do sport a unibody design already, the interesting bit would be the camera sensor. As we can see, the camera sensor points to a circular design, with the very familiar Moto logo being located right smack in the middle. There will be no dual lens setup for the Moto G5 Plus for sure, but perhaps that will be a commonplace feature in the future and now right now.

Some speculated hardware specifications of the Moto G5 Plus point to a 5.2-inch display, a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, a 3000mAh battery with Turbo Power technology, 4GB of RAM as well as 32GB of internal memory with Android 7.0 Nougat in tow. There will also be a 12MP shooter at the back, fingerprint recognition support, and NFC capability to round things off.
