Alleged photos of Motorola's Moto X+1 have surfaced, along with leaked information that suggests the new smartphone will have its release date in 2014.

TK Tech News recently published a photo they claim to be from an insider working within Motorola itself. The tech blog claims that the image may be the fabled Moto X+1, which is generally believed to be the successor to Motorola's Moto X flagship device.

In actuality, the image shows a mystery device with rounded corners, and a shiny plastic exterior. Details in the image do not reveal the size of the smartphone. Also, the phone appears to be a display model rather an actual functioning device. The device has no other markings apart from the words, "Motorola Confidential Property."

The same source mentioned that depending on what camera is used, the Moto X+1 will start hitting the shelves somewhere between early September and late August 2014.

Besides a photo leak, TK Tech reported that the Moto X+1 will come with 1080p AMOLED display, 2 GB RAM. For storage, the phone is capable of holding 16, 32, or 64 GB of information. Also, the Moto X+1 apparently has a slot that can hold a micro SD card to expand its storage capacity. Motorola may be considering having two versions of the Moto X+1, the same report states.

As of now, the U.S.-based mobile device manufacturer has not confirmed a Moto X replacement. Word of the Moto X+1 existence really began in the fan community, which even gave the rumored device its name. Though Motorola has nowhere near the popularity of Samsung and Apple, it still commands a loyal following.
