The Atlanta Hawks are said to be contenders to land a Rudy Gay trade this NBA season. The Sacramento Kings star is expected to become a key part of the plans of the Kyle Korver squad of improving their chances in the playoffs this season. With Dwight Howard already bolstering the basketball team's spirit, the Atlanta Hawks are anticipated to become more aggressive in adding veteran stars.

Prior to the regular NBA season, the Sacramento Kings have been tagged with Rudy Gay trade talks especially after the former Memphis Grizzlies star shared the possibility of leaving the team. In the past years, the DeMarcus Cousins team has been plagued with trade talks and staff issues that reportedly turned off a lot of basketball stars. Despite his contribution to the NBA team, the Rudy Gay trade rumors seem to never end.

"Step aside, [DeMarcus] Cousins-the rumblings out of Sacramento right now pertain to Rudy Gay," noted Chris Roling of the Bleacher Report. He further noted, "Gay hasn't been a great fit with the Kings, an odd sort of stopgap solution to help a team win now while grooming young talent. Fans have heard his name on the block in the past, though nothing has come of it."

Rumors are rife that a number of NBA teams have expressed interest in engaging in Rudy Gay trade talks. Among the basketball squads willing to negotiate are the Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. Since the start of the regular season, more teams have been reported to study the possibility of signing the Sacramento Kings star. The latest to join the list are the Atlanta Hawks.

The Atlanta Hawks were a surprise team last NBA season as they even managed to become serious threats to the dominance of LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers. While the Kyle Korver team failed to stop the Kyrie Irving squad in the NBA playoffs, their performance in the playoffs made them legitimate title contenders. Moreover, the addition of seasoned basketball star Dwight Howard definitely improved their lineup.

Can a Rudy Gay trade make them better?

The answer remains uncertain. At this point, the Sacramento Kings are concentrating on developing their roster despite the clamor from fans to simply release their big stars and rebuild from the ground. That is, some supporters of the NBA team are encouraging the squad to succumb to the Rudy Gay trade rumors along with the DeMarcus Cousins negotiations. As for the Atlanta Hawks, the performance of Dwight Howard in the hardwood court has been a source of inspiration for his teammates - a far cry from his rumored relationship with the Houston Rockets specifically James Harden.
