Brett Brown, the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, has a very interesting vision for his team next season. According to the coach, he is planning on making Ben Simmons play the point guard position.

Simmons officially joined the NBA and the 76ers after he was drafted as the first overall picks. But before becoming a professional basketball player, he held down the forward position in his various teams in college.

Needless to say, Simmons' basketball experience is rooted in playing this position. However, for his NBA debut, Brown wants Simmons to be a point guard, at least during his rookie season.

"I can't wait for the season to begin and all over the place I'm very, very excited to start our season," he said according to Real GM. "I think [Simmons] is going to have some taste of [point guard] for sure. He'll dictate that himself when he rebounds and leads the break."

"I've said it many times, I think the NBA point guard is the hardest position in the NBA," he added.

Making a player take on a different position isn't that uncommon in the NBA. For instance, when LeBron James was with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the first time, he had to be the team's point guard.

For Simmons, however, it seems Brown is planning on capitalizing on the athlete's built. Although he stands at 6'10", Simmons has a very slim frame, which means he can move as fast as other point guards in the league.

But aside from being the main passer, Brown is also thinking of other positions for Simmons to play, Chat Sports reported. Although the coach did not go into details regarding these positions, it seems next season will be the ultimate test of Simmons' skills.

"He's never played point guard, let alone NBA point guard, so what do you think he's going to be?" Brown said. "He has a real good chance to be that. I think initially we're going to play him in different positions and that [point guard] will certainly be one of them."

"I think he's an elite passer," he added. "He has the mentality to do that first - and in a 6-foot-10 frame that weighs 240 pounds, 250 pounds, at 20 years old. That's a great package to work with to play multiple positions."
