Earlier this month, Dwayne Wade surprised everyone by announcing his decision to join the Chicago Bulls. However, according to rumors, it seems the Bulls could consider trading him to the Cleveland Cavaliers if he doesn't click well with the rest of the team.

According to Nick Wright, host of The Herd, getting Wade is an experiment conducted by the Bulls. He claimed that the team wants to see if he will be an effective player and shooter if placed alongside Rajon Rondo and Jimmy Butler.

If this works well, then the Chicago franchise will retain Wade. However, if it doesn't, then the team might explore trade options involving the shooting guard. And apparently, the Cavs are one of the top teams that are looking to get Wade.

"If it all clicks [for Chicago], great," Wright said during the program. "If it doesn't, guess what we know for a fact. The Cavs will trade him. The Cavs could because of their trade exceptions...Imam Shumpert, Channing Frye, all of their trade exceptions and a couple of first-round draft picks to sweeten the pot for Chicago."

In the meantime, however, a potential trade cannot happen between the Bulls and the Cavs since Wade is still technically a free agent. However, Wright noted in December, Wade will be eligible for a possible trade.

"People in Miami, people around that team in Miami think that is part of this math for Dwayne Wade," Wright said. "The discussion in Miami is you watch December 15th when he's eligible to be traded and Cleveland will call for him."

However, despite Wright's confidence in his statements, it cannot be confirmed yet if the Bulls' secret backup plan for Wade is actually true. But, if it does happen and Wade ends up with the Cavs, then that means he will be reunited with LeBron James.

These two served as the power pair of Miami from 2010 to 2014. Of course, for the 2015 season, James and Wade went their separate ways as the former signed with the Cavs and the latter remained with the Heat.
