NBA Rumors: Golden State Warriors Close to Signing Phil Pressey; Will He Replace Shaun Livingston?

According to new reports, the Golden State Warriors have invited Phil Pressey to attend the team's training camp. This could mean that Pressey might replace Shaun Livingston, a point guard on the Warriors' roster.

Pressey made his debut in the NBA in 2013 but went undrafted during that year's draft event. Since then, he has bounced around from various NBA and D-League teams including the Boston Celtics, Maine Red Claws, Philadelphia 76ers and the Idaho Stampede.

Despite his unsteady status in the NBA over the past few years, it seems Pressey is about to get his big break with the Warriors. According to NBA insider David Pick, the 25-year-old athlete has just been invited to the training camp of the Golden State organization.

Based on the Warriors' current lineup, the team is certainly rich with guards. These include Stephen Curry, Ian Clark, Patrick McCaw, Klay Thompson and Livingston.

Obviously, Thompson and Curry are the team's main shooters. And, as pointed out by Warriors World, McCaw and Clark will most likely compete against one another for the backup position for Thompson.

Bringing in Pressey to the team could mean that he also might compete with Livingston.

But, as pointed out by Fan Sided, Pressey will most likely not be in the Warriors' final roster. For one though, Pressey does not have the necessary experience as a starting point guard. During his time in the NBA, he was always a backup player, which significantly affected his minutes on the court and his stats.

Last year, when he was still with the 76ers, he only averaged 3.9 points per game. Before that, he had a scoring average of 3.5 points with Boston.

Still though, this does not mean that Pressey will not be a valuable asset to the Warriors, or any team for that matter. With him on the lineup, Pressey will certainly add depth to the Warriors' point guard bench, which, right now, only includes Livingston and Curry.

He can serve as a valuable backup to any of these players to maintain the momentum of the team and to add points to the Warriors' scoreboard.
