The New York Knicks appear to be keeping their promise of a better team to Carmelo Anthony. While the entry of Kristaps Porzingis in the NBA team helped them improve their standing in the league, the basketball group still failed to make it to the playoffs. Hence, it came as no surprise when reports of Carmelo Anthony plotting a way out started to circulate. However, it looks like the deal with Derrick Rose finally showed the seriousness of the New York Knicks in becoming champions. In addition to the former Chicago Bulls star, sources claim that ex Houston Rockets star Dwight Howard is next for New York.

The former teammate of James Harden faced a difficult 2015-16 NBA season. Throughout the games, Dwight Howard had been attacked by fans and critics as one of the most problematic players of the Houston Rockets. In fact, even his inability to mesh with The Beard was blamed solely on the former Los Angeles Lakers star.

In the 2016 NBA free agency, however, Howard appears to be determined to put his past behind him. Amid the criticisms and allegations of being a bad teammate, the former Orlando Magic star still believes that he can become a powerful tool in the hardwood court for whatever team that signs him.

"This will be my last chance for a really big contract," shared Dwight Howard. He added, "If I am utilized the right way, I know what I can do for a team, a city, a franchise. I know my worth, and I will bust my butt this summer to show my worth to everyone.''

Among the teams in the NBA today, the New York Knicks enjoys the rare luxury of having enough cash to spend to sign free agents. While the Kevin Durant free agency train has yet to stop somewhere, rumors are rife that the Oklahoma City Thunder star wants a championship ready team. Hence, the New York Knicks might be hard pressed to make their case against teams like the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat.

This is where Dwight Howard comes in. With his experience and size, the former Houston Rockets star can easily dominate the hardwood court to allow both Derrick Rose and Carmelo Anthony to attack the basket.

What do you think? Will Dwight Howard be the missing puzzle piece for the New York Knicks to finally make it to the NBA playoffs? Can the former Houston Rockets star truly help Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose and Kristaps Porzingis carry the team to greatness?
