NBA Rumors: Russell Westbrook Calls For Andre Drummond Contract; Steven Adams, Victor Oladipo Ready To Welcome New Teammate

The Oklahoma City Thunder made a surprising move with the Taj Gibson trade, which also included a Doug McDermitt contract, before the NBA trade deadline expired. With the Russell Westbrook stats on the rise this season, many believe that adding the former Chicago Bulls stars would give Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry a run for their money come the playoffs. However, it looks like the Steven Adams team has another NBA trade up their sleeve.

The Detroit Pistons have been regarded as one of the teams capable of engaging in interesting NBA trade talks considering their talents in the roster. Apart from offering a Reggie Jackson trade, sources point to another high-profile player who might be shipped out of the team soon. That is, an Andre Drummond trade is anticipated to be announced this season.

Rumors are rife that the Detroit Pistons are attempting to unload some of their players in an effort to get higher draft picks this season. With the NBA draft class reportedly described as a very promising batch, the Reggie Jackson might be on the verge of following the Sacramento Kings' move to simply rebuild. This could mean an Andre Drummond trade along the way.

"As I've said before, every name on our roster has come up. That's his job. That's what we're supposed to be doing," said Stan Van Gundy of the NBA trade talks entertained by GM Jeff Bowler.

The Detroit Pistons head coach added, "There hasn't been a serious discussion about Andre, but that doesn't mean there haven't been discussions about Andre. The concern, I guess, would be from Andre's standpoint if nobody had any interest in him."

Meanwhile, Andre Drummond himself admitted that he is aware of the possibility of an NBA trade changing the course of his basketball career. He said, "That's just the way it is. Everybody's name gets thrown around when you're a high-profile guy. My name happened to be in there. I'm not mad or anything like that. I'm still here to play basketball. Whatever happens happens. I can't control that."‎

The Oklahoma City Thunder have not made it a secret that they want to prove Kevin Durant wrong when the All-Star decided to team up with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to fulfill his dream of becoming an NBA champion. With the current Russell Westbrook stats practically dominating the league, fans believe that an Andre Drummond trade could easily boost the numbers.
