A tweet sent out by DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings have spurred new trade rumors about the player. According to these speculations, the center might leave the Kings to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

These rumors started almost immediately after an NBA fan asked Cousins what his favorite team in the league was when he was growing up. The athlete then straightforwardly answered the Lakers.

Trade rumors involving Cousins are nothing new since the drama within the Kings community have been pretty apparent. There have also been several instances that clearly show that the Sacramento franchise and Cousins are not mending well.

For instance, after losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in March of this year, Cousins and head coach George Karl were seen yelling at one another. After that, the team issued a one-game suspension on Cousins, according to CBS Sports.

But, according to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Cousins said that the suspension did not come from the organization. Instead, it was handed down by Karl because of their heated verbal argument.

Then, in June, Cousins fired off a cryptic tweet that seemed to criticize the Kings' decision to draft Georgios Papagiannis. Apparently, he's not happy that the team drafted another center even though he's still an active player.

The growing conflict with the Sacramento organization has reached a point that former point guard Rajon Rondo admitted that it has started to affect the relationship of the team.

As for Cousins, things between him and the Kings could only get worse if nothing changes drastically. And, as noted by various rumors, one of these changes could come in the form of him demanding the team to trade him.

Given his recent tweet, this could mean that the Team USA member could ask the Kings to trade him to the Lakers, as noted by Sportsrageous. Being with the Los Angeles franchise could be mutually beneficial since it will put Cousins in a different environment, which would be good for him. The Lakers, on the other hand, will be getting a top center who is only 25 years old. This coincides with the team's plan to reportedly re-build its lineup by getting young and faster players.

But then again, with a seemingly troubled lineup, the Kings would not probably let go of Cousins. They could either wait for his four-year contract to end or lose him in free agency in 2018.
