The Sacramento Kings are currently holding the tenth spot in the Western Conference. Given the unbeatable qualities of the Golden State Warriors as well as the improving performances of the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder, the DeMarcus Cousins squad might be heading to yet another year of not making the playoffs. In fact, the Sacramento Kings have failed to make the NBA playoffs in the past ten years.

With this situation in mind, the Sacramento Kings opted to sign big stars to serve as backup for Cousins and Rudy Gay. The entry of Rajon Rondo, who has been left for dead by the Dallas Mavericks last season, managed to revitalize the NBA Finals dreams of the Ben McLemore squad. However, it looks like the team has to look for more ways to improve its roster if Seth Curry ever plans to get anywhere near brother Stephen Curry at the top of the Western Conference.

One of the Sacramento Kings stars who has been the center of NBA trade rumors this season is Rudy Gay. The veteran small forward, who has been with the team since 2013, is a key piece in their plays. Moreover, he is recognized as the Klay Thompson in the Sacramento Kings roster. That is, Gay is the second highest scorer in the NBA team - pretty much like the other half of the Golden State Warriors' Splash Brothers.

However, it looks like Gay wants out of the Sacramento Kings this season. League sources disclosed that the small forward is seeking a way to exit the NBA team.

"Sounds like Kings forward Rudy Gay pushing for a trade before Thursday's 3 pm EST deadline, per Basketball Insiders," revealed Sam Amico of Fox Sports via social media.

The same news was confirmed by Darryn Albert of Larry Brown Sports who noted, "Not many opportunities are readily available to escape the basketball badlands in Sacramento. So with the NBA trade deadline imminent, Kings forward Rudy Gay is making the most of this one."

As earlier stated, the Sacramento Kings are struggling to make it to the playoffs. With roughly a decade of failing to achieve the goal, Gay appears to be eager to get out and find a team where he can have a shot at the finals. However, it might not be that easy for the small forward to escape the Sacramento Kings.

"While the Kings are very much open to making a change, there is a big caveat for Sacramento to actually make a deal: it has to return something of real value," disclosed Steve Kyler of the Basketball Insiders. He added, "The Kings are, like a number of teams, sitting just on the bubble of the playoff picture. They are willing to move a significant player if the return in the deal ensures they can move up in the standings and seriously compete for a playoff berth."
