The San Antonio Spurs are considered as one of the best teams in the NBA today. Despite the exit of Tim Duncan in the offseason, the team smoothly transitioned to regard Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and LaMarcus Aldridge as their new Big 3. However, the entry of Kevin Durant in the Golden State Warriors roster makes it even more challenging to topple the team led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Will a Ricky Rubio trade boost the San Antonio Spurs’ chances this NBA season?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are considered to have some of the best players in the league. Young NBA stars like Zach LaVine, Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Kris Dunn have been applauded for their performances individually. However, the Ricky Rubio team seems to struggle to make it work as a group. Since the lack of talent is not the problem, many believe that the Minnesota Timberwolves is ripe for a rebuild. This means that the team must let go some of its old players to concentrate on fresh talent.

Rumors are rife that a major part of the rebuilding process in the Minnesota Timberwolves is the Ricky Rubio. The veteran star, who has been the subject of a lot of NBA trade talks in the past, is reportedly actively shopped by the Andrew Wiggins squad. While no official confirmation has been given by any of the parties involved, speculations point to Kris Dunn as the reason for the trade. That is, the younger star is considered a better investement than the veteran.

With this in mind, the Ricky Rubio trade talks have attracted a number of basketball teams across the league. Among the squads interested in acquiring the Spanish star are the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat. However, the San Antonio Spurs are regarded as the serious contenders for the point guard.

At this point, the only reliable point guards for the San Antonio Spurs are Tony Parker and Patty Mills. With the exit of Tim Duncan from the Kawhi Leonard team, it becomes apparent that both the French man and Manu Ginobili will follow suit. This means that the LaMarcus Aldridge squad would need a young player to take over soon. Fans believe that a Ricky Rubio trade could be the answer to this impending vacancy.

What do you think? Should the San Antonio Spurs go for a Ricky Rubio trade this season? Will the Minnesota Timberwolves star be a good match for the Kawhi Leonard team? Will the Spanish star help the LaMarcus Aldridge squad finally beat the Golden State Warriors despite the teamwork of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant?
