Now that the Golden State Warriors have built what appears to be a super-team, various players, including retired ones, are looking to join the championship contender. The most recent one is Stephen Jackson, the team's former shooting guard.

Jackson is already retired and the last time he played for the league was in 2014 when he was still with the Los Angeles Clippers. As for his stint with the Golden State franchise, that happened from 2007 to 2009.

However, after two years into his retirement, Jackson is reportedly itching to make a professional comeback. And, according to reports, he wants to make his NBA return with the Warriors.

According to CBS Sports, Jackson reportedly told Rachel Nichols of ESPN that he will be joining the new lineup of Golden State in their training camp.

"So happy for Stephen Jackson, who just told me he's going to camp w/ the #Warriors this fall to give another shot at playing," Nichols tweeted.

Although this sounds like great news especially for Jackson, other sources that dug deeper into the matter found out that the former NBA star was actually not invited by the Warriors to join them in the upcoming camp.

"The Warriors say Stephen Jackson has not been invited to camp," Henry Wofford of CSN tweeted.

Shortly after the Warriors confirmed that they did not send an invite to Jackson, Nichols deleted her initial tweet. She then followed this up with a post stating that there are no guarantees that Jackson will be part of the Warriors lineup.

"No guarantees for Stephen, of course," she posted. "He tells me he knows he still needs to prove himself to some folks inside the Warriors organization."

At this point, it's really hard to tell if Jackson or Nichols was the one who made the mistake in exaggerating the whole deal about joining the Warriors training camp. But surprisingly, Jackson is not the only playing rumored to be eyeing an NBA comeback with Golden State.

Earlier this month, it was rumored that the representatives of retired player Ray Allen have contacted the Warriors for a possible spot in their roster, according to Sports Illustrated.
