The Toronto Raptors are creeping on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference as Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan work back to back to match the efforts of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. However, the Drake supported team is known to still need more star power to actually beat the Iman Shumpert group. In an effort to improve their chances in the impending division finals, reports are pointing to a DeMarcus Cousins trade to the Toronto Raptors.

The relationship of the Sacramento Kings and DeMarcus Cousins has been widely known to be problematic. The two parties have been finding it challenging to find common ground that could lead to success for almost a decade now. With the clock ticking for the explosive center, fans believe that the best move would be for him to simply get out of the Rudy Gay squad.

“Enough is enough. It's time to save DeMarcus Cousins from himself, and to save the league from wasting one of its brightest lights by seeing him spend one more moment in an organization that clearly can't turn that talent into a fully functioning star basketball player,” said Bill Reiter of the CBS Sports.

He added, “Beyond doubt Cousins remains one of the game's most talented players. Period. Even now, in a golden era of raw talent brimming throughout the league, he has few equals. There is LeBron James, and then there are a handful of other names on the list. Cousins is one of those, and he is the only one who has not grown into the player that such talent demands.”

The call for a DeMarcus Cousins trade started even before the George Karl era. It intensified when fans of the center saw his potential during the 2016 Rio Olympics as a member of the Team USA. He silenced his critics with his performance alongside Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Carmelo Anthony. With this in mind, many have started to call for an NBA trade to send him to a better team.

Among the NBA teams interested in the DeMarcus Cousins trade, the Toronto Raptors are slowly becoming heavy favorites. With the calm and relaxed atmosphere brought about by Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, fans feel that the Sacramento Kings star would be able to focus on his game rather than off court drama. Moreover, he has proven his ability to work with the Toronto Raptors stars in his stint with Team USA. Hence, the three could definitely mesh well in their quest for an NBA championship.
