Ever since LeBron James and most recently, Dwayne Wade, left the Miami Heat, the team has been in a slump. And now that they could lose Chris Bosh too forced medical retirement, the team might spiral down even further next season.

Fortunately, the team reportedly has a back-up plan in case this happens. According to recent reports, the Heat are reportedly looking into acquiring Blake Griffin from the Los Angeles Clippers.

For some time now, it has been rumored that the Clippers has placed Griffin on the trading block due to his injury-plagued season from 2015 to 2016.

According to Sportsrageous, Miami could then take advantage of this situation by offering a couple of its players to the Clippers in exchange for Griffin. That way, the team will have a reliable back-up player just in case doctors force Bosh into an early retirement due to his current medical condition.

The only problem here, however, is that coach Doc Rivers has already stated that the team will do whatever it can to keep Griffin on the roster. Apparently, Rivers knows that losing Griffin would significantly affect the ability of the team's big three, which includes Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan.

But, if the Clippers refuse to trade away Griffin, the Heat still has another way to get him. Next season will be the last year on Griffin's contract with the Clippers. This means he will become an unrestricted free agent next offseason.

Of course, since he is expected to be one of the top free agents next year, the Heat can expect to face a lot of competition for Griffin's signature. The only way Miami could get around this is preparing for next year's free agency through a very tempting offer.

For now though, the Miami organization is trying to make the most out of its roster. As noted by head coach Erik Spoelstra, losing Wade cause a big challenge for the team. The same can be said regarding the uncertain status of Bosh.

But, despite these setbacks, the coach said that he is ready to adapt and take on this challenge.

"Just when you get comfortable, it will change," he said according to Sun Sentinel. "This is a new challenge. We're embracing the change. We're excited about the future, excited about the guys we have on our team. You also have to have the right kind of players.
