The hype surrounding the NBA free agency is already over but there are still unsigned players out there who are looking for a new home. One of those is Kevin Martin from the San Antonio Spurs.

According to the latest reports, Martin is the next player that the Chicago Bulls are hoping to add to their roster. But, at 33-years of age, it doesn't seem like he fits with general manager Gar Foreman's plans for the team's lineup.

As first reported by Amico Hoops, the Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers and the Detroit Pistons have expressed their interests in signing Martin. However, it is not yet confirmed if any of these teams have already contacted the athlete's camp.

Earlier in June, as the various teams in the league scrambled to prepare to fill their roster with new talent, Foreman promised that the Bulls will have a younger lineup for next season. He made the statement after trading Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks.

"The last decade, we've got the best record in the Eastern Conference," he said according to ESPN. "We've put together a group that we thought was highly competitive and probably had a chance to get a championship level."

"The injuries obviously derailed us quite a bit, especially the last few years," he added. "And then last year there were just so many of them. But we've got to put this back together now, going younger, more athletic and building it back up moving into the future."

Going with younger, and probably faster players is probably the best move that the Bulls can make right now if they want to compete at a higher level next season. This is why it's a bit intriguing that the Chicago franchise is interested in getting Martin.

But then again, given the team's recent activities, it seems the Bulls have quickly departed from this strategy by going for older and more experienced players. For instance, earlier this month, they signed Rajon Rondo, who is currently 30 years old.

Before that, they were able to get 34-year-old Dwayne Wade. With these two in the lineup, it seems the Bulls are still planning on relying on veteran players to take them to the finals next year.
