Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings has reportedly said that he would like to play for the Miami Heat. However, since the Miami organization's roster doesn't seem too appealing, the team could resort to moving the new recruits Derrick Williams and Dion Waiters.

The previous season and offseason have been pretty rough for the Heat. Aside from the fact that they lost Dwayne Wade when he made the decision to join the Chicago Bulls, it is also not yet clear if Chris Bosh will be able to return for the 2016-2017 NBA season due to his current health condition.

Like other teams in the league, the Heat are using this time to rebuild its roster. Although they were still able to do this by getting Hassan Whiteside and re-signing Josh Richardson and Justise Winslow, there's still a void in the roster that needs to be filled.

What the team needs right now is to get a versatile player who can man the key and the three-point line. Fortunately, Gay is reportedly interested in playing for Miami.

According to Barry Jackson of Miami Herald, sources claimed that Gay, who has been on the Kings' trading block for some time now, wants to be transferred to the Heat.

"According to an associate, the Heat is among the organizations that very much appeal to Sacramento forward Rudy Gay, who has been available in trades," Jackson noted.

But, as the sports reporter pointed out, the Kings are probably not too interested in dealing with Miami due to its current lineup. In addition, the Heat might not be able to cover Gay's contract conditions.

"Miami lacks the tradable assets to acquire him if it wanted to and his $14.2 million player option for 2017-2018 is worrisome," Jackson added. "Players signed this month in free agency cannot be traded until Dec. 15.

Although the details regarding Gay's contract can still be a bit problematic for Miami, the team could still offer a set of players to Sacramento, despite what Jackson said.

As stated earlier, Williams and Waiters could serve as Miami's sacrificial lambs. Although both are still very young, they have sufficient experience playing for various teams in the league, which could work well for the Kings, Sportsrageous reported.

However, as noted by Jackson, if Miami really wants to trade Williams and Waiters to the Kings in exchange for Gay, the team may have to wait until the second half of December since these two were signed in July during free agency.
