The New York Knicks have been known in their goal to build a team around NBA Elite Carmelo Anthony. While the team ranked extremely low in the past NBA season, their failure to snag the championship resulted in the entry of Kristaps Porzingis in the locker room. 

With the Latvian star as Anthony's reported protegee, the New York Knicks are slowly becoming one of the most notable basketball teams this season. Moreover, the Derek Fisher squad appear to be in the midst of rebuilding its roster. With Porzingis' entry into the NBA team, sports analysts noted that the Anthony group can serve as a fertile ground for developing young basketball players.

One of the young NBA stars who might be making a comeback via the New York Knicks lineup is Tony Wroten. A former member of the Philadelphia 76ers, the 22-year-old free agent has reportedly garnered the attention of several basketball teams. Given the rumors of Anthony's impending retirement and the injuries of the NBA All-Star, it makes sense for the New York Knicks to continue looking for promising players. Wroten exited Philadelphia to make way for Ish Smith.

While no official confirmation has been made by either Wroten or the New York Knicks, sources close to the matter disclosed that there is strong interest in the player in the said team, according to ESPN. Moreover, the Porzingis squad is said to be actively seeking a guard to add to the NBA team. Apart from Wroten, the free agent market, and the trading blocks, the New York Knicks are rumored to be looking into D-League stars as well. Before the entry of Wroten in the radar of the New York Knicks, Brandon Jennings had been widely speculated to sign with the team. However, Ian Begley of ESPN revealed that the Detroit Pistons star failed to impress Fisher and the rest of the team. As for the fans of Jennings, they claim that the poor showing of the NBA star might be due to his torn Achilles from which he is still recovering from.

At the moment, the Anthony squad only has 14 players with guaranteed deals. This provides the NBA team a lot of room to add new stars without letting go of its current players. Hence, the entry of Wroten will only serve to strengthen the team sans the need to sacrifice any of its athletes. However, some critics are wondering whether Wroten would be a good addition to the New York Knicks. In the measly eight games played by the guard with the Philadelphia 76ers, his shooting only registered 34 percent from the field. This means that the New York Knicks might simply be adding another player incapable of truly helping the group. However, the fact that Wroten could be acquired via a minimum contract and has the potential to be developed into a strong player later on makes the deal attractive to the team.
