The Indiana Pacers have officially acquired Thaddeus Young from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for draft picks. As part of the deal, the Nets were able to get the No. 20 overall pick as well as a future second-round pick.

Through the trade, the Nets were able to secure the draft rights of Caris LeVert, the shooting guard who played for the Michigan Wolverines. It is not yet clear who Brooklyn will draft for its second-round pick, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Pacers, on the other hand, were able to get a reliable and versatile forward through Young. During his last season with Brooklyn, the 28-year-old athlete made an average of 15.1 points and 9.0 rebounds.

For his new deal with the Pacers, Young is expected to make $14.1 million during his first season with the team. Then, for the 2017-2018 season, he will earn $14.7 million. He will also get a total of $13.7 million if he accepts his player option for the 2018-2019 season, ESPN reported.

After the trade was finalized, Young thanked the Nets for welcoming and supporting him during his year-long stay with the team.

"My family and I would like [to] thank the @BrooklynNets and the Nets fans [for] everything," he tweeted. "[You] continued [to] uplift me this past season. Thank you all."

"Looking forward to new journeys with the @Pacers and the fans," he added in another tweet. "Can't wait to get started."

The acquisition of Young is all part of team president Larry Bird in building up a stronger roster for the upcoming season. Before the trade with Young, the Pacers were also able to acquire Jeff Teague from the Utah Jazz in exchange for George Hill.

These new players are expected to play well alongside Myles Turner and All-Star player Paul George.

However, aside from the players, Bird also made a few significant changes regarding the staff of the team. One of these is getting rid of coach Frank Vogel earlier in May and replacing him with Nate McMillian. At that time, Bird noted that the team needed a new coach who could lead the team to the finals.
